Home Tour | Kitchen Update Pt. 2

It’s been to me, what feels likes a LONG wait to finally say my Kitchen is complete! Well…just a couple details that need to be done but nothing major. Of all the projects that my husband and I have worked on, the Kitchen is my favorite. It is where I spend most of my time. I love food and cooking fancy meals. Now I have a Kitchen that I am so proud of and can’t wait to share my love for cooking with my family and friends more often. I’ll just have to enlist my husband to do the cleaning.  Like many other renovation projects in our home, they have been completed in phases. You can see the first two posts on my kitchen Here & Here  It has come a long way from the ugly builder grade look. Sometimes I have to go back and look at the original photos I took of the house to remind myself how far we’ve come.  So with this most recent update, we did two things. We had new counter tops installed and we put up a pretty back splash, to help brighten up the kitchen some more. I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out!  So without further ado here is my new kitchen!

This is before we tore out the old ugly counter tops.

and now we have the after <32016-01-06_0003

So for the buffet, we decided to install a butcher block counter. We felt that due to the size of the kitchen and the amount of granite going in, we needed to break it up a little. I was worried about how it would look and we debated on installing butcher block for the island as well but eventually, we obviously decided against. We didn’t want to deal with the insane maintenance that goes with butcher block so we stained and polyed to remove the need to apply oil frequently.  This year we met with my family in Gatlinburg, Tennessee to spend “Christmas” & New Year with them. <—We met them 2 days after Christmas 🙂

So of course, my husband couldn’t leave without a few bottles of moonshine and and bottle of Tennessee Reserve Jack. So he decided to take my shelf and decorate himself… I’m allowing it until I decide how to decorate.

So with this “desk” section in our kitchen, I wasn’t sure how I wanted to tile the back splash so I left this part for now until I can be very confident with whatever my end decision will be.  So for now a little decor to hide where the old back splash used to be. Sort of.

So what do you think? I’d love to know! Also, stay tuned for a post on our upcoming project… Completing the fireplace project.
