Macomb, MI Studio Maternity Session | Jamie

For awhile now, I have been wanting to do something different with what and how I shoot. After reevaluating what I wanted and how I needed to get there, I decided weddings are no longer what I want to photograph. I had fun shooting them but once my son was born it was no longer something I loved to shoot. I decided after thinking long and hard about my recent shoots and how much fun I had photographing some very beautiful women. I decided that’s what I wanted to continue doing.

To start, I knew I wanted to photograph maternity sessions. This is such an amazing point in a woman’s life to get to create  and birth another. It’s important for me to show these women how truly beautiful they are.  All too often people, mainly women would make comments such as ” Are you sure you aren’t having twins?” or my favorite was when a woman grabbed my arm in a restaurant and asked me “Are you going to the hospital after this?” I will never forget how questions like that made me feel. This is why it is important to me to show women that we truly are beautiful at any stage of our lives.

I put out a model call a couple months ago to do a maternity shoot how I wanted to. Lucky for me I have a beautiful friend that I met through a local mom’s group to volunteer for me. Any day now if not already she will be welcoming baby number 2.  I rented a beautiful Badgely Mischka gown for this shoot from Rent the Runway and I couldn’t be happier with the way everything worked out. Here are some of the beautiful images that we captured!
